À PROPOS DE DR. RECKEWEG
Dr. Reckeweg was a German Medical Doctor who understood the tenets of Homeopathy. He broke with the tradition established by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, M.D., who postulated that only one remedy should be used at a time. Dr. Reckeweg postulated that if there were ten remedies that did the same thing, then it would be prudent to add all ten to one formula, and let the patient’s system choose the one that it wanted. He also further developed the concept of the Homaccorde. Considering that potencies need to become more and more dilute, he would add multiple potencies of the same remedies, and let the patient’s system choose not only which remedy it wanted, but which potency of the remedy it wanted.
He developed a whole line of these combination remedies, covering all phases of medical problems, and declared his new field of medicine Homotoxicology. This was seen as a bridge between allopathic medicine and homeopathic medicine, as the remedies were used for Allopathic diagnostic indications, but treated them with these homeopathically prepared mixtures. In the close to 40 years that Dr. Reckeweg did his work in Germany, he developed approximately two thousand of these combinations. In the early 1970s, he sold 50% of his worldwide company to the Delton Group, a huge multi-conglomerate that owns many other businesses, including a majority interest in the BMW car company.
The Pharmazeutische Fabrik Dr. Reckeweg & Co. GmbH.
IT ALL BEGAN WITH “LABORATORIUM EUPHA” Although now extensively renowned, the Dr. Reckeweg Company traces its origins back to humble beginnings, as a family operated business. At the turn of the century, Dr. Heinrich Reckeweg (1877-1944) – a native of Herford, Westphalia, Germany – founded “Laboratorium EUPHA”. Using his experience and knowledge of homeopathic medicine, the first complex agents, based on Hahnemann’s principle of similars, were developed. In 1947, Dr. Alfred Reckeweg, homeopath, and his brother, Dr. Klaus-Günther Reckeweg, both direct descendants of Dr. Heinrich Reckeweg, re-established the company under a new name: The Pharmazeutische Fabrik Dr. Reckeweg & Co. GmbH.
The rebirth of the company brought with it a mandate for the preservation of internationally accepted standards of high quality. Presently directed by Dr. Klaus-Günther’s son, Michäel Reckeweg, the company scrupulously abides by the heritage and praxis of Dr. Heinrich Reckeweg. Tradition and custom are maintained despite state-of-the-art facilities, manufacturing techniques and methods of organizational management.
The worldwide recognition and dissemination of the preparations is attributed to the significant efforts of Dr. Reckeweg & Co. to produce high quality therapeutic specialties. Today, these are valued in more than forty countries – spanning all continents. This success is primarily attributed to the product formulae, which originated and were clinically tested in the course of Dr. Heinrich Reckeweg’s own research.
Achieving this high calibre would have been inconceivable without the most modern production equipment, validated apparatus and production procedures, a stringent quality control system, as well as a highly qualified staff of scientific and technical specialists. Dr. Reckeweg & Co. is an active member of the Federal Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry, with company specialists participating in the Association’s committees.
Recently, and quite prominently, there has been an immense investment in areas of research and development within the scope of homeopathic pharmaceuticals. Strides in the analytical sphere include the compilation of product monographs, which have been prepared in collaboration with the German Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia, upon the German Federal Health Ministry’s request.
In the past, homeopathy has been a science based primarily on purely empirical data and treatment protocol. Some years ago, in an effort to dispel inconsistency and misbelief between the positive results of homeopathic therapy obtained by countless practitioners and the opposing view of the conventional scientific community, Dr.Reckeweg& Co. established a fundamental research department. The prime objective of this department was to foster the growth, development and scientific validation of homeopathy through experimentation utilizing modern research methbridge between allopathic medicine and homeopathic medicine, as the remedies were used for Allopathic diagnostic indications, but treated them with these homeopathically prepared mixtures. In the close to 40 years that Dr.Reckeweg did his work in Germany, he dology. Clinical trials of existing preparations are rigorously carried out, in order to extend the current body of knowledge. Standardized statistical procedures and electronic data processing (EDP) assessment have facilitated this process. In accordance with the objective of increasing international scientific awareness regarding the therapeutic action and efficacy of homeopathically prepared substances, extensive research – unrelated to specific products – has also been undertaken. Through the application of standard homeopathic theoretical models, research at Dr. Reckeweg & Co. is directly applicable to other research conducted on national and international levels.
The results of such exhaustive research have been published in DSR (Department of Scientific Research) reports. Edited to some extent, to make them more comprehensible, these specialized journals are made available to the practitioner and have appeared periodically for some time. Symposiums are organized at regular intervals to allow professionals to keep abreast of the latest research findings in homeopathy and, most importantly, have the opportunity to ask questions and converse with representatives of Dr. Reckeweg & Co.
As the founder of “Laboratorium EUPHA”, Dr. Heinrich Reckeweg was personally committed to the manufacturing of safe and effective remedies. It is to the strict adherence to this philosophy that we owe the international success of the Dr. Reckeweg homeopathic specialties.
